What We Do
Cure Kids enables researchers to focus on finding solutions to some of the most serious health challenges affecting children in Fiji.
Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) Control and Prevention
Between 2014 and 2019, the NZ Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade (MFAT) funded Cure Kids to work with the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) to prevent and control rheumatic heart disease (RHD) in Fiji.
In 2020 MFAT agreed to fund a new phase of the RHD Programme until 2023. Cure Kids is continuing to work with the Fiji MHMS, the University of Auckland in NZ, and with Telethon Kids Institute and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Australia.
The Fiji Oxygen Project
No child, no person, should die for lack of oxygen.
Respiratory conditions such as severe pneumonia in children and newborn babies are leading causes of death in Fiji, but treatment with oxygen can save lives.
Cure Kids has supported the Fiji government to ensure reliable supply of oxygen to treat people with severe hypoxia (oxygen-starvation).
